The XMD-1000
XMDirect Universal Tuner Box is the XM tuner needed to work with all
XMDirect products. XMDirect Universal Tuner Box allows users to receive
digital XM Satellite Radio directly through a satellite radio ready car
stereo head unit. To complete the installation of an XMDirect system the
Universal Tuner box (XMD1000) must be installed with an XMDirect Smart
Digital Adapter - included -
The small XMDirect system allows customers to install the entire system
behind the dashboard maintaining its uncluttered appearance. The antenna
which is bundled with the Universal Tuner box still needs to be installed
on the outside of the vehicle on a metal surface.

Note:
Certain Kenwood head units are not capable of displaying
XM satellite radio categories, channel scan or category search which is
also the case with a SIRIUS tuner. This feature information is
communicated in the XMDKEN100 owners manual. Some of those units are
indicated by the following notations below
